A Surprising Renovation
Before the establishment of the National Grid in 1926, houses that wanted electric lighting needed to generate their own electricity.
At some point around the start of the last century the right-hand half of what is now Oscar’s Cottage contained the diesel electric generating station for the main house.
The original machinery has long since gone and, together with an ingenious conversion of 1980s stables, this has formed a quirky, internally-modern two bedroom cottage.
Oscar’s Cottage contains two kingsize bedrooms, a living room, a six-seater dining room, a large kitchen and a family bathroom.
It is fully air conditioned and has an extensive private garden with outdoor furniture.
